Hello all Ross here!

Terminator: Genisys, which hits July 2015, has been shrouded in secrecy with a very tight set and very few images being leaked online which in the days of smart phones is pretty much unheard of and welcome if you ask me. In fact we’re about 10 months out and have very little officially confirmed news regarding Genisys which is a “soft reboot” of the Terminator series.

Expect that news to be rectified in the near future.

Let’s not forget that it is also the first part in a trilogy of films, the plan being to shoot the sequels back to back a la Back to the Future 2 and 3.

The films have to be shot and released in this truncated time period because the rights will revert to series creator Director/Writer James Cameron at that time.

So what was Paramount Pictures big announcement earlier today?

Paramount Pictures have been very very secretive about all of the filming for the upcoming Terminator film. They quickly terminated a youtube account that put up videos showing the filming of future war scenes. And the only leaked photos since has been from three nights of shooting:

1: A redo of the police chase in T1.
2: A setup at a hospital.
3: A SWAT style van and a police cruiser with Kyle and Sarah stunt doubles.

Now word has come out that filming is about to wrap with on location shooting at Oracle Headquarters in Redwood Shores in Redwood City California.

Could this be Cyberdyne Systems?

Could this be Cyberdyne Systems?

Oracle is the second largest computer software developer in the U.S. behind Microsoft. And the CEO of Oracle is none other than Larry Ellison father of producers Megan and David Ellison. I’m not the only one to look at the campus and come to the possible conclusion that it might be used as Cyberdyne Systems in the upcoming Terminator film.

Hey folks Ross here with another article on Terminator: Genesis (T:G)!

There’s been an awful lot of scuttlebutt and discussion about T:G as recently there have been photographs from two scenes being filmed for T:G which have appeared online.

Firstly there was a scene I believe will be revealed to be at a children’s hospital which caused a stir because it showed Arnold as the long term Terminator, Kyle Reese, Sarah Connor and the actor hired to play an older John Connor all in the same scene.

Daily Mail Article

The second behind the scenes pictures showed the Kyle and Sarah stunt doubles in the back of a vehicle that looks like it could be doubling for a truck like the S.W.A.T. from T2. They’re shooting a scene where they shoot out of the back of the van at at least one Police cruiser.

T:G which is shooting in New Orleans (Jurassic World is also shooting there now after a successful shoot in the Hawaiian islands) is also drawing intrigue by the lack of information about the plot and the time periods. There have been hints that the soft reboot will be re-telling events from T1 but differently.

After looking at some articles from last month I think we can put together a general idea of if nothing else the through-line of events in Terminator: Genesis!

Consider yourself warned! Article could potentially spoil some plot elements!

Hello all!

As I suspected the videos from late night filming on Terminator: Genesis did not last long, I’m very glad that I took the care that I did to preserve them so that I could bring you this report.

Filming is now going great guns on Genesis, slated for release July 1, 2015. Just recently some short clips of filming in Louisiana have popped up along with stills showing cars used in replicating a certain sequence from The Terminator. Arnold has stated that the actions is as Big as the action in T2 and as recently as yesterday character actor J. K. Simmons called the script a “smart re-imagining”.

It seems unsurprisingly that Paramount and the others players behind the planned Trilogy of films are taking things very very seriously indeed. Including taking down the videos I’m about to talk about not once but twice at a minimum. One of the main reasons is that Paramount et all don’t want behind the scenes footage leaked period, however when one is talking about the shooting of FUTURE WAR set segments any moment could be a huge spoiler.

However, being that the resolution is 240p I felt that at the very least I would take a few shots to give you some idea of the first T1-T2 styled Future War action since T2:3-D Battle Across Time!

Possible Spoilers after the break!

When Justin Lin was circling Terminator 5 he spoke about some of the ideas he had for the film and this script was born. All told I spent the better part of year in research, writing and the polishing Rebirth into the script I am releasing today. Hopefully it’ll help tide fans over until the increasingly awesome sounding Terminator: Genesis hits next July!

I hope you enjoy reading this script as much as I did writing it!

So it’s a huge day for fans of the Terminator franchise after a long quite spell two bits of Terminator news hit at the same time and I’ve got to say I’m really quite stoked by the news.

And the Director is…

Terminator has always attracted big name directors for instance I distinctly remember a time when Ridley Scott was said to be in the mix for directing duties on Terminator 3.

Rightt now it looks like Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World) has come out on top at the end of the selection process and is in final negotiations to take the directors chair for 2015’s Terminator.

Hello all!

I’m very excited to bring today’s Terminator 5 update to you because it’s an official press release concerning the future of the  Terminator franchise. Without any further ado here’s the Official Press Release. (Note the phrasing of the line starting “The first in a stand alone Trilogy” because right after that is the films working title).

Skydance Productions, Annapurna Pictures and Paramount Pictures have jointly announced they will partner on a rebooted “TERMINATOR” movie, to be released by Paramount Pictures on June 26, 2015.

The first in a stand-alone trilogy, “TERMINATOR” will be produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna

and David Ellison of Skydance. Dana Goldberg and Paul Schwake of Skydance will serve as executive producers. Laeta Kalorgridis (“Avatar,” “Shutter Island”) and Patrick Lussier (“Drive Angry”) are attached to write the screenplay.

Launched in 1984 with star Arnold Schwarzenegger as the title character, “TERMINATOR” spanned 3 subsequent films, which have earned over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

David Ellison most recently executive produced, along with his partners at Paramount, “World War Z,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”. A 5th installment of in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise is in active development, along with a 3rd film in the “G.I. Joe” franchise, among other films.

Megan Ellison most recently produced the Academy Award®-nominated “Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Master” and executive produced “Spring Breakers” via her Annapurna Pictures banner and has David O. Russell’s “American Hustle,” Spike Jonze’s “Her,” and Bennett Miller’s “Foxcatcher” set for release later this year.

The main thing that has me totally excited is the phrase “The first in a stand alone trilogy TERMINATOR…”.

So the other day I decided to walk around town a little bit more than usual and anyone who knows me is fully aware that I walk around town a LOT. However yesterday was a little bit different in that I ended up at the local Salvation Army Store- the one in Redlands California is more like a Antiques repository but on the right it still has DVD’s, Video/PC Games, Comic Books and Collectables…and Music CD’s. I actually went in to look at the DVD’s as they are priced to move and often have a good selection of films that I’ve wanted to see and have never been able to.

Aeon Flux caught my eye right away, it had a strong chance of being picked because it ticked all the right boxes for the kind of film I wanted to experience. However in the end I found myself kneeling in front of the CD rack and looking very carefully at the titles for anything I might like. It turns out there ended being two items that grabbed my attention…well to be honest 3, but when I opened the first one I found the dreaded stolen/missing disc staring at me. So I handed it to one of the workers to get it out of circulation.

Justin Lin has directed every movie in the Fast and Furious series since he came on board for Tokyo Drift and arguably with each film he has crafted a greater and more powerful and robust piece of entertainment. Fast 5 was the first in the series I took the time to see in theaters since Rob Cohen’s The Fast and the Furious. And as a film it blended high octane car racing with the heist film for absolutely nutty amounts of fun, the ending chase is action heaven.

Now Justin is putting the finishing touches on Fast 6 which will be by all indications even more fun and spectacular than Fast 5. Universal wants to get going right now on Fast 7 and that’s forced Justin Lin to drop out of the directing gig ostensibly because he doesn’t want to be in Post Production on one film while being in Pre-Production on the next simultaneously. I can’t fault him for that, and though it’s a shame that we won’t get to see him complete his planned Fast and Furious arc we will get to see Fast 7 coming down the pipe very very soon as Universal Pictures is apparently talking to Director James Wan to fill the directors chair.

This leads to my question: this move once again opens up the possibility of Lin signing on as director of the long gestating Terminator 5. Will rights owner Megan Ellison seek him out? The script is currently being written and Justin Lin has shown interest in directing the 5th film in the past.

It’s with a somewhat heavy heart that I write this official Terminator 5 news update as it means that I’ll no longer have to defend Ferris and Brancato on another Terminator script. Seriously though this news both excites me and bums me out since I spent a good deal of last year working on securing this very project.

However I’m also happy since that means Laeta Kalogridis  (Avatar/Shutter Island/Alexander) and Patrick Lussier (Wes Craven’s Dracula/My Bloody Valentine/Drive Angry (Writer and Director) are going to be the ones to receive any blow back from the fans if the film under performs.

It’s and interesting duo that’s for certain however I know that Terminator rights holder Megan Ellison isn’t into making stupid decisions. She is after all behind such awesome films as Zero Dark Thirty and The Master and is very serious about making great use of the Terminator name.

This is someone I fully trust to know what they’re doing.

Apparently the Laeta/Lussier was combo writing a SF original for David Ellisons’ Skydance Productions and was so impressed with it that he landed them the Terminator job.

More news as it breaks.

Ross Out.
